Wow! Another wonderful insight.

In Japan, we have the same problem of “the customer is always right” issue.

Are they always right?

Will it cost an arm and leg for the company?

Hospitality is an issue in Japan where we call it “OMOTENASHI”, which was presented at 2020 (2022) Olympics.

Thank you for your comment. I have deep feelings about extreme customer service. I wrote about it in a piece called 'Travelling through the portal of unease'.

I know it seems weird, but I don't actually like being able to pay people to be nice to me, or to treat me with respect.

Really enjoyed this post and totally agree that unless you are indeed a local, you cannot "live like a local" as a westerner....something I learned earlier this year!
