I met Rudy at a nomad festival, and I started fan-girling when I saw photos of his renovated American school bus. He says it took nearly 4 years for the custom build, which includes two double beds, a 4-burner gas stove, a dishwasher, as well as a full-size shower and refrigerator. Sweet!

2 Questions
1. What is the best thing about living on a bus? I think it’s the best of both worlds. I get to travel to beautiful spots with all the comforts of home.
I also like all the flexibility. I can just start up the bus and head to a new place whenever I want. My favorite thing to do is to stay at a deserted beach and take a swim every morning. It’s total freedom.
2. What is the worst thing about living on a bus?
The maintenance can be a bit too much at times. I have solar panels, so electricity is not usually an issue, although I need to keep a careful watch on water and gas usage. It also gets hot in the summer. 🦋
What do you think of bus, RV, or van living? Could you downsize your life? Where would you relocate your home if you could?

Bus life is not for me, but I admire Rudy for it. Does he drive it everywhere he goes? I guess I'm curious to understand the driving connection between the American school bus, his home country of The Netherlands, and favorite country Colombia.
Yes, he lives in it about half the time, so 25% in the Netherlands driving around to see friends and family and 25% tooling around Europe. I know he's driven it as far as Croatia & Albania. The other half of the year, he travels outside of Europe and just stores the bus.
